Item Description

Lustrous, glassy, colorless flattened nailhead calcite rhombs with stepped-growth faces are dramatically set enechelon and in jackstraw fashion on this RARE, large and fine combination from this obscure extinct lead-zinc mine, closed in 2001. The impressive large rhomb is 7.3 cm and the calcites rest on brassy marcasite crystals on the sphalerite matrix plate. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only trivial bruising. This exceptional large calcite has 360-degree viewability. Calcites from here are known, but are RARE and are seldom on the market. This fine large combination piece is probably from the 1996 find. Valued at $750-1000 for size, rarity and quality. BETTER in person.
