Item Description

A VERY RARE and aesthetic miniature cluster of galena pseudomorphs after cerussite crystals from Tsumeb! A striking jackstraw cluster of striated, tabular pseudos rests on the sulfide matrix. The large striated pseudo is 1.7 cm. Most of the pseudos have contacted ends from being attached to the vug walls. This remains a SUPERB and RARE galena pseudomorph from Tsumeb. Galena was the primary lead ore at Tsumeb, but crystals are uncommon and pseudomorphs of ANY TYPE are extremely rare! Choice material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 6043 and acquired from well-known Canadian Tsumeb mineral dealer, Prosper Williams, in 1969. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Value of such a unique Tsumeb rarity??
