Item Description

Beautiful pink, lustrous and translucent, tightly intergrown manganoan calcite rhombs form intergrown "balls" and are nicely accented with pastel-pink barite blades, forming a rare and showy combination. This colorful and excellent piece is from a major open pit and underground iron mine in Wisconsin. Operations started at the Montreal Mine in the early 1880s and the last ore shipped in 1963. The balls are complete all-around and pristine. Pieces in this combination quality and rich color are very uncommon. Pink calcite and white barite fluorescence.
