Item Description

Some of the finest gypsum specimens in the world come from these famous Spanish alabaster quarries and this is an exceptional large example. Beautiful limpid tabular spearpoints, to 4.3 cm, are strikingly scattered on the impressive and mounded matrix of smaller gypsum crystals nicely accented with a bit of matrix. Essentially pristine, amazing for such a soft mineral! One blade is contacted, but there is very little, if any, actual damage. Specimens of this size and quality are seldom on the market. Old material from the early 90s, late 80s...not available today! Valued highly, in fact, now that they are gone. The base has been sawed to enhance the dramatic and fine display quality of this large piece. Ex Paul Zerfass Collection # 689.
