Item Description

Montebrasite is a rare Lithium phosphate found in granite pegmatites. This is a HUGE, fishtail-twinned, lightly frosted, transparent, tan montebrasite crystal from the famous Sapucaia Mine of Brazil. It is a superb, large, and extremely elongated example of the species. Montebrasute is isostructural with Amblygonite. The label with the piece says amblygonite, but this piece is undoubtedly montebrasite. Sharply crystallized amblygonite specimens, such as this excellent crystal, are EXTREMELY RARE worldwide. The crystal probably dates to the 1950s. Value of such a rarity???
