Item Description

Strikingly stepped-growth, pretty variable purple, glassy, translucent fluorite cubes richly cover a stacked cluster of glassy tabular celestine spearpoints on this aesthetic and sculptural combination from this well-known Mexican locale. The large cube is 1.8 cm and tiny celestines are peppered on the fluorites, adding contrast and pizzazz. This is a classic and desirable older combination from Melchor Muzquiz. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7343 and acquired from "Perky box" inventor Willard Perkin in 1974 at the San Mateo Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). The piece displays well from two sides.
