Item Description

A 4.7 cm statuesque, arborescent, flattened mass of hackly native copper is dramatically set the basalt matrix on this aesthetic small cabinet from this well-known Nova Scotia copper mining area, that was active from 1897 to about 1907 (MINDAT). Collectors have recovered additional fine specimens since then, that resemble pieces from the famous mines of Kazakhstan. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6734 and acquired in August,1972. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
