Item Description

Golden and coppery iridescence highlights this sculptural large mounded plateS of striking intergrown spherical aggregates rounded lustrous pyritohedrons. Scattered quartz crystal clusters on top and totally covering the bottom of the piece are a nice accent. This is a VERY RARE combination specimen from a most obscure Mexico locale - the San Diego Mine in Sinaloa. MINDAT lists four San Diego mines in Mexico, but this is the only mine that MINDAT lists pyrite for it. A fascinating and rare 360-degree combination specimen, with only two bruised botryoids noted up top. Uncommon, colorful and most excellent large Mexico material from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
