Item Description

A dramatic, large calcite from the famous Elmwood Mine. Many of the sculpturally intergrown glassy, gemmy and lustrous crystals are doubly terminated and twinned. Multiple desirable golden-amber terminations add real color and character to this artistic piece. Scattered bitumen blebs (dead hydrocarbons) are another fine accent. The piece is in great shape, for such a large, multi-sided specimen. The attachment at the base is embedded with barite. Scattered trivial bruising, a few gently cleaved tips to the golden-amber terminations and cleaved tips to the peripheral calcites are noted, but are hard-to-see. These certainly have minimal impact to the overall high quality of this very impressive large calcite from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 235. 7.3 pounds or 3.3 kilos mass. It displays well without aid. Fairly valued at $2500-3000 for high quality and size.
