Item Description

Algodonite is a rare alloy of copper and arsenic. Rarely on the market, most such piece come from Michigan's famed Copper Country. This is an EXTREMELY RARE, OLD-TIME showy combination from the "Old" Algomah Mine, which was only active from 1852 to 1854! The sculptural rounded nodular mass of solid algodonite is embedded with contrasting patches of quartz and a few scattered patches of VERY RARE bright silver-metallic hackly silver. Mineral specimens of ANY species are very uncommon from the Algomah Mine. A rare, perhaps UNIQUE old-time combination from the Dr. Francesco Bedogne Collection # 961. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. Value of such a rarity??? A MUST for the locality or species collector!
