Item Description

Pyromorphite specimens are uncommon and desirable from this old small small Pb-Cu-Ag deposit that was worked in the early 1900s. Mining operations ceased by 1920 (MINDAT). Two, lustrous, translucent, honey-yellow, hexgonal prisms, to 4 mm, are aesthetically set in a 1.6 vug lined with smoky quartz points. The matrix is solid granular quartz and smoky quartz. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 13203. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Rare and excellent Nova Scotia pyromorphite and quartz.
