Item Description

Rich old solid allemontite (stibarsen) ore from this well-known extinct Type Locality mine. Allemontite is the old synonym for stibarsen, originally named for the locality in France in 1772 (MINDAT). It is a rare natural alloy of arsenic and antimony. Matte finish to lustrous, partially rounded (typical), metallic gray stibarsen composes the front of this sculptural section. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8402 and acquired from the Bradley's at Windsor in December, 1977. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Comes with an older Ward's label. Classic old-time material seldom on the market in this richness and quality.
