Item Description

A RARE, sculptural, excellent and showy combination from famed Tsumeb. Most of the mounded sulfide matrix is covered with sharp, blocky, pseudo-hexagonal, bone-white tarnowitzite crystals. The large crystal on one end is 2.5 cm. Tarnowitzite is the rare Pb-rich variety of aragonite, with the finest examples coming from famed Tsumeb. A cute glassy, cyclically-twinned cerussite crystal is aesthetically set in the middle of the piece and one end hosts sprays of tiny, lustrous, translucent, yellow mimetite needles. The interior is pristine and the noted periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction to this rich two-sided combination. Tarnowitzite specimens with both cerussite and mimetite are VERY RARE from Tsumeb and this is an exceptional example.
