Item Description

Pretty pastel-pink pyramidal termination on this adorable gem, bi-colored tourmaline thumbnail from an unknown Minas Gerais pegmatite. The very glassy, layered, striated, limpid crystal has a colorless body. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only one spot of side wear. Very cute and rare older style tourmaline from the Willard Perkin collection or dealer stock (note the label on his TN box). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky box" for standard thumbnails display. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7277 and acquired from Willard at Glendale in 1974. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Classic and rare old-time Minas Gerais tourmaline.
