Item Description

Scheelite and quartz are both RARE from this famous molybdenite and bismuth deposit. To find both species in an aesthetic combination is EXTREMELY RARE. A 1.6 cm doubly terminated, oxide-coated quartz crystal is jauntily attached to intergrown euhedral sections of lustrous, gray to brown scheelite crystals. The quartz has a small bruise on the outer tip and that's blue tack on the piece. Ghostly white scheelite fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11837 and acquired from Scott Williams at the Tucson Show in 1991. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Undoubtedly older material, but no proof. An exceptional and rare combination thumbnail from this classic locale.
