Cuprite w/ Copper (2016 find)

Item Description

An impressive, very rich, hefty and showy large copper ore specimen from the January, 2016 find at this now famous locale. Part of the front of the sculptural matrix is covered with absolutely splendent, mirror-like, silver-metallic sharp cuprite crystals, to 8 mm. The crystals and adjacent broken area glow with cherry-red gemminess and color under bright light. The back of piece is rich in both native copper and cuprite. Visible copper is not very common from Milpillas. A rich, uncommon and highly representative large combination from this noted locale. Mass is 714 grams or 1.6 pounds.
