Item Description

An impressive 6.8 cm, pristine, doubly terminated, tapered fluoro-richterite crystal with both lustrous and matte faces dominates the sculptural large cluster of intergrown crystals from the well-known Wilberforce area of Ontario. The highly lustrous, green to black, well-striated, crystal faces have flashy, translucent, olive-green areas. Many of the smaller crystals have contacted terminations or attachments against the pocket walls, but there are some terminated crystals. Fluoro-richterite is an uncommon Amphibole Group species. The matrix includes many small glassy light olive-green diopside crystals and a few quartz crystal sections. Choice material from this famous locale from the Bob Trimingham Collection, who acquired this in Tucson in 1982. Collected by Corie Suter of Hagersville, Ontario in 1977, according to Bob's label.
