Item Description

Dioptase specimens are VERY RARE from this obscure Pb-Zn and Cu mine and district in the Republic of Congo. Gemmy, lustrous, very rich emerald-green crystals are attractively clustered in the sculptural vug. The striking and beautiful central crystal is 1.1 cm on on the diagonal. The vug has a sparkly overgrowth of drusy quartz, adding pizzazz. Choice and RARE older material from this uncommon locale, known for huge wulfenite crystals to nearly 2 kilos! Specimens from this locale probably date from the 1920s to perhaps the 1960s. Valued at $1500-1750 for rarity and quality.
