Item Description

A very deceptive gemmy and lustrous, bi-colored tourmaline from the famous Pederneira Mine. The highly lustrous, well-striated crystal looks like a black schorl or nearly opaque very dark green crystal in normal lighting. BUT, when backlit the layered crystal is a beautiful grass-green. This trigaonl beauty has a very steep, strange, vertically etched, very dark olive-green to black, pyramidal termination. The cleft along one prism edge adds character. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a modest amount of termination edge wear and side wear. A classic, unusual, bi-colored tourmaline from this world-famous locale. 65.62 carats or 13 grams mass.
