Item Description

Killer sharp crystals of gemmy, shimmering, rich salmon-colored manganoan smithsonite rhombs, to 7 mm, richly and attractively line a scuptural vug in granular sulfide matrix on this super small cabinet. Manganoan smithsonite is one of the very rarest and most desirable varietals from the famed Tsumeb Mine. The pink color here is NOT caused by cobalt, but by manganse. This was found in ONE POCKET in the mid-1980s, and few are seen today. The crystal shape and color are completely stereotypical of this pocket. RARE and outstanding Tsumeb. Seldom available in this quality. Valued at $500-650.
