Item Description

An unusual, old-time silver-rich silver and copper halfbreed from Copper Country. This sculptural two-sided piece looks like a shaggy dog with a pointed nose and uplifted ears and tail! It appears to be composed of at least 75 % silver, which is rare for halfbreeds. Most halfbreeds are predominately copper. Euhedral, subhedral, hackly and massive platy silver and copper are noted. The green epidote on both sides adds color and character to the nicely burnished piece. A showy, rich and uncommon halfbreed from the Kay Roberston Collection # 5340. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Hefty and rich ore at 118 grams mass.
