Item Description

Spharosiderite (Sphaerosiderite) is the rare microcrystalline, botryoidal variety of siderite, which usually occurs as rhombs. Specimens from the Columbia River basalts in the Spokane area are uncommon and are seldom on the market. Two generations of botryoids line the sculptural vug. The larger compound and single balls, to 1.3 cm, are partially translucent with brown interiors, a gray exterior and have waxy luster. The small botryoids are the same style. Specimens of the richness and quality are rare. Older material from an East Coast Collection, as such pieces were collected prior to 1971.
