Description:Spinel is another gem that comes in a great range of colors. Most people are familiar with the Ruby Spinels, but a large percentage of Spinels out there are not red. It is an attractive, VVS, blue/purple color, "Step Oval" cut gemstone. The stone is very attractive for a purple Spinel, and is not a "grey" shade. The clarity is really impressive as most of these stones can have noticeable inclusions when they reach this size. It is difficult to find superb quality Spinels these days from Burma because they're usually very dark (almost black) or very included. Due to the political upheaval in southeast Asia, it appears that these stones will soon be very very hard to come across and the days of the good Spinels may be dwindling.
