Description:This is very attractive and well known material, but rarely does one find a piece like this. These Ruby / Zoisite specimens were found in Tanzania in 1954 (sometimes referred to as "Anyolite" after the Massai word for green), and are very popular among collectors either as cabochons or for carvings. This piece is a fantastic polished slab of Ruby / Zoisite as it shows the textbook hexagonal form of the Ruby crystal with a green "rind" of Zoisite. It is not unlike the highly sought after "watermelon Tourmaline" slices that are seen from Brazil, Maine, etc. This is one of the more attractive pieces of Ruby / Zoisite that I have seen as it is balanced and complete all the way around. Don't miss out on this one as it is the only one I have to offer right now.
