Description:This area in Colorado is well known for it's amazing Amazonite specimens, but most people don't realize that there are some superb gem quality Smoky Quartz crystals found there as well. This gem ordinarily wouldn't be very significant were it not from one of the most historic and classic localities in Colorado. This is a decent sized stone for this locality. The material form Lake George can form exceptionally large crystals in some cases, but is rarely faceted. The rough from which this stone was cut, came from a large broken single crystal that was found in 1975 by Richard Kosnar. This gem was somewhat difficult to photograph, but the rich sherry color, and is very attractive. The stone is very very slightly included with a "Brilliant Oval" cut. Gems this size from Lake George aren't often seen for sale in today's market.
