Description:Hickoryite is a commercial term for a newly marketed banded form of Rhyolite that is found at a locality called Rodeo in Durango, Mexico. The material is incredibly beautiful with a true "southwestern" appearance of warm red, lilac-pink and orange shades. This "Square Cushion" cut stone has a fantastic mix of thin, yet distinct color banding. Apparently a large percentage of the material mined is sent to Asia, and very little of it is available in the western market. We just picked up a small parcel of these eye-catching and unique stones at the Tucson Show, and we hope to secure more of them as soon as possible. In addition to its visceral beauty, this is durable material, and well-suited for jewelry to boot. Without a doubt there are few collectors out there who have one of these stones in their collection, so don't miss out!
