Description:Ruby from Burma is one of the most storied gems in the world. Some of the finest Rubies in the world are found in Burma. This gem has an eye-catching, rich pinkish-red color, and is certainly "gem quality", despite some slight inclusions which are typical for Burmese Rubies. It has an "Oval" cut, which is most common for Rubies. These are absolutely some of the most popular Rubies in the world. PLEASE NOTE: The recent embargo implemented by the United States government states that there will NOT be ANY of these Rubies imported to U.S. soil after September 30, 2008. Now that the embargo has gone into effect, one can only purchase gems that were imported prior to the embargo. From now on, these Burmese Rubies will be very difficult to obtain. It mus be noted also that this stone has most likely been heated to enhance the color, which is a perfectly acceptable practice in the gem world, and is fairly common when it comes to Sapphires and Rubies.
