Description:Connemara Marble is a famous gem that is only found in the Twelve Bens Mountains at Connemara, in the western part of Ireland. The material formed in Pre-Cambrian rocks over 500 million years ago, and has been treasured by collectors for generations in the UK. The material is actually not a marble at all, but a kind of Serpentine (sometimes called "verde antique"). The material ranges from a pale to rich moss green shades than can be mixed with white and yellow hues, and no two stones are alike. This stone is a beautiful "Freeform Cabochon" cut gem of this famous material, and would make a great addition to any collection.
