Description:Colombia is the most famous Emerald producing country in the world, but the Emeralds from Bahia, Brazil are certainly in the upper ranks of the world. Typically the Emeralds from Bahia are not the finest gem quality, but they are translucent to gemmy. The crystals are typically found frozen in Quartz and schist matrix. Recently somebody had an interesting idea to start faceting gems with the Emerald and Quartz still together. This stone is about a 50/50 split of gemmy green Emerald and snow white Quartz. The cut on this gem is a "Cushion Cabochon" cut, and looks very attractive in person. I have not seen many of these stones on the market, and they are a unique novelty for collectors of unusual gems.
