Description:Cordierite is probably most well known for it's purple/blue variety called Iolite. This particular gem is from the Sri Lankan gem gravels, where some of the nicest Iolites are being mined these days. The stone is virtually eye clean with an "Oval Brilliant" cut, but is strangely near colorless, so it's really not an Iolite, but rather a pale lilac Cordierite. A very attractive stone for the material.
