Item Description

A RARE and strikingly sculptural 360-degree limonite stalactite from this noted locale. Mineral specimens, in general, are rare from this mine, the most important and richest mine in the famous Siegerland district (MINDAT). This very artistic piece of tightly intergrown nubby limonite stalactites looks just like a ripe vanilla bean! Both ends were contacted against the vug walls. Rare and excellent old-time material from this Fe-Cu-Co mine that operated from the 18th century until 1960. Ex. Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
