Item Description

Glassy, gemmy to translucent, colorless calcite crystals are dramatically and richly clustered on this impressive large specimen from this noted Asturias fluorite mine. The imposing large doubly terminated and twinned crystal in the front is 10.0 cm long and the striking large doubly terminated and twinned crystal on top is 8.5 cm. The sculptural quality and richness of this fine large piece is significant. Calcites of this style are known from this more obscure Asturias fluorite mine shaft, but are seldom available in this fine two-sided quality, richness and size. Essentially pristine, with only trivial bruising to the major calcites. Ex Raul Sanabria Collection. Illustrated in the Spanish mineral magazine Bocamina, Vol. 6, Page 77 and formerly in the collections of the Natural Science Museum of Alava and Jose Miguel Cavia.
