Item Description

This ancient iron and copper mine is well-known for outstanding chalcopyrite specimens, but examples are rare and are seldom on the market. Tightly intergrown, sharp, lustrous, lightly iridescent golden sphenoids form a showy and rich mounded specimen from this noted locale. The shard of matrix at the base in the front adds character. The display view is pristine and contacting on the back is out-of-sight. The mine was first mentioned in 1712 and closed in 1965 (MINDAT). Choice and rare material from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
