Item Description

A 3.0 cm, pristine, sharp, tapered, hexagonal, blue-gray corundum crystal is dramatically set in a starkly contrasting feldspar aureole atop a sculptural matrix of biotite schist on this exceptionally aesthetic and uncommon example from this extinct corundum mine. The piece displays supremely without aid. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7913. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A MUST for the species or locality collector.
