Item Description

A most unusual, RARE and colorful large azurite in granite specimen from Pakistan. Vivid cornflower-blue azurite orbs are richly embedded on front with an interesting string on the top of the back of the granite matrix slab. These come from the K2 area, the world's second tallest mountain. Trade names include: K2 Granite; K2 Jasper; and raindrop azurite. The quartz, albite and minor mica granite matrix has been confirmed by x-ray diffraction (MINDAT). The azurite is a secondary oxidation product after the granite solidified from the parent melt. A most interesting rock and lapidary material and SELDOM on the market. 478 grams or over a pound mass.
