Item Description

Three intergrown large manganoan calcite rhombs form a very sculptural and aesthetic cabinet specimen from the famous mines at Guanajuato. The impressive large central rhomb is 4.5 cm on edge. The prism faces and the attachment on the back reveal that the crystals are composed of three generations of pretty pastel-pink calcite. The crystal interiors shown on the back are very glassy and translucent. A second generation overgrowth forms most of the frosted prism faces. Striking shark's teeth crystals of the third generation preferentially coat some of the crystal faces. This is a very fine and pristine large two-sided calcite from this historic locale. Neon-orange fluroescence. Older material from the 1970s or 80s from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection.
