Item Description

Stunning, rare, ISOLATED, electric-blue elongated linarite crystals are strikingly and aesthetically set on the very sculptural combination matrix on this outstanding and rare small cabinet from the famous Blanchard Mine. The large crystal is 1.8 cm. Most of the linarites are on massive quartz. Frosted, stepped-growth, pastel-green fluorite cuboctohedrons flank both sides of the quartz. The large barite blade on one side looks like a custom mount for the piece in one view and the piece displays beautifully in that view without aid. Linarites are ususally in clusters at Blanchard. Purple fluorite fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2614 and acquired in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). RARE, exceptional and classic old linarite combination material from Blanchard.
