Item Description

Spinel-twinned copper crystals form a very aesthetic and sculptural miniature from Copper Country. The dramatic elongated "spine" with branching "ribs", spearpoint "tail" and densely intergrown crystals in the matrix add real flair to this fine piece from the famous Central Mine. The copper was probably dissolved out of the basalt matrix to bring out the rich copper luster. The Central Mine closed in 1898, but the dumps still produce fine specimens periodically. Classic and excellent Central Mine copper in this size and form with multiple fine display views.
