Item Description

Emanating from a central point are diverging, fan shaped, lustrous and translucent, light grayish white crystals of witherite, to 4 cm in length. A fine specimen not often seen these days in this quality. They date to the mid to late 1800s, for having been found in the old iron mining districts of England. The specimen is accompanied by an old Hugh Ford label and is ex Larry Conklin collection. I have seen these with noted British dealers at the shows, priced at 2000-4000 pounds sterling. They go for a premium!!! Here, we can afford to auction it with the others, but it really should be valued over $1000 at a minimum, if people are paying attention...So few of these are ever up for sale, and this fine display specimen is actually somewhat aesthetic.
