Item Description

A gemmy, beautiful and highly unusual aquamarine from an unknown pegmatite in the famous Skardu District. The pretty greenish-blue crystal is incredibly glassy and lustrous. Over half of the crystal is strikingly limpid, with the other portion having vertical veils. The crystal has unusual modified hexagonal form, adding much interest. The modified pinacoidal termination is very glassy and water-clear. The other end is broken and healed, technically making this a doubly terminated crystal. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. One side has a large contact, where another crystal once lay, but there is very little damage, per se. Looking at the crystal carefully, it appears there may be an interior tube running nearly the length of the crystal. A striking, rare and unusual gem aqua from an East Coast collection. 47 grams mass. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON! The gemminess, extreme glassiness and luster and internal veils in part of the crystal made photograph difficult. Valued at $1000-1250.
