Item Description

Simply put, the finest Amazonite crystals in the world are found in around the Pike's Peak Batholith. The area has continued to produce fine quality crystals for the better part of a century. This piece features a predominant, sharp, well-formed, rich blue green color Amazonite crystal measuring 5.0 cm long associated with Smoky Quartz and Albite. The hardest combination to obtain from this area is Amazonite WITH Smoky Quartz and Albite like this piece. The stark contrast of the Amazonite against the black and white matgrix is highly desirable for collectors. The main crystal is good quality, though not completely damage free as you can see in the photos. The color is well above average for Amazonite from Colorado. This specimen was collected by the Joe Dorris, and came from the famous Smoky Hawk Mine that has produced great Amazonite specimens for years. It's a good quality specimen for a species (Microcline) that is typically found in white to grey colored crystals!
