Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Halite / Marl from this locality along the Dead Sea. The deposit is approximately 8 kilometers (5 mi) long, 5 kilometers (3 mi) wide, and 226 meters (742 ft) above the Dead Sea water level, yet 170 meters (557 ft) below the world mean sea level according to Wikipedia. This piece shows the typical layered / banded appearance of Halite that is often seen at Mt Sedom (Mt Sodom). A cool reference specimen from this historic biblical locality.
