Item Description

Gorgeous, GEM quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, "phantom" cubes of Fluorite which measure up to 3.4 cm on edge are beautifully intergrown with bladed white Barites to create this showy and eye-catching display specimen. Scalenohedral Calcite can be seen on the reverse side of the specimen. The Fluorites show a color change from blue in sunlight to a purple tone in indoor lighting. I have to stress that the incredibly sharp faces and high luster of the Fluorites is significant for the locality. Several of the smaller Fluorites on the back of the piece are completely WATER CLEAR jewels! For the most part, the piece is in good shape, though there are a few superficial nicks here and there. Valued at $1400 for the quality of the Fluorites and overall balance and visual appeal of the specimen. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #7). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
