Item Description

Sharp, lustrous metallic-gray galena cuboctahedrons and spinel-twins are richly and attractively set on matrix on this rich and excellent combination from this famous abandoned (1982) large underground Pb-Zn mine in Ireland. The mine is famous for sphalerite and galena specimens. The large cuboct at the top is 2.2 cm and the sharp, bright spinel-twin is 1.5 cm. Scattered vugs filled with splendent pyrite microcrystals are a super accent. This exceptional combination displays well without aid. Recovered from a single large pocket in 1978, these are seldom on the market today. Ex Larry Conklin Collection and valued at $1000-1250.
