Item Description

A superb and rare single vesuvianite crystal from the famous Ala Valley of Italy. The fabulous textbook, sharp tetragonal gemmy crystal is very glassy and highly lustrous. The classic yellow-green hues really light up, when the crystal is backlit! Complete all-around and in great shape. The tiny edge bruise on the front and out-of-sight contacting on the back are noted, but certainly have only minimal impact to the outstanding quality of this rare, probably older beauty. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5722 and acquired from Bourget in 1969. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
