Item Description

An outstanding and rare small cabinet combination plate from this well-known mine. A striking 5.5 cm doubly terminated nubby light gray calcite crystal with TWO styles of twinning dominates the piece. Typical notched twinning is noted on the sides, with the MUCH RARER nest twin form visible on the top of the crystal. The calcite aesthetically rests on a rich field of sharp lustrous metallic-gray tetrahedrite crystals, to 2.8 cm, more calcites and a few scattered quartz points. The underside is coated with sparkly pyrite microcrystals, adding more character. A superlative and rare 360-degree combination, that is nearly pristine. The noted modest bruising to the outside termination of the large calcite is certainly only a minimal detraction to this very fine combination rarity from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection. Modest pink fluorescence.
