Item Description

Two generations of calcite crystals are dramatically exposed on this impressive large two-sided rib from this famous mine. Striking, large tan to brown, lustrous, translucent dogtooth scalenohedrons to 4.0 richly cover one face. Some of the crystal have phantoms, adding character. Smaller, very gemmy and glassy, straw-yellow scalenohedrons to 2.4 cm cover the other side. The dogtooth side has only a few gently bruised terminations. The periphery wear on one end is noted and is a modest detraction. The gemmy side is pristine. Both sides display very well vertically without aid and the piece has multiple views. An unusual and classic large two-sided, two generation calcite from the famous Minerva No. 1 Mine.
