Stunning mirror-bright brassy luster and fabulous complex cuboctahedral form highlight this striking, large, very sharp pyrite crystal from recent outstanding finds from the Merelani Hills, renowned for the world's finest tanzanites and outstanding diopside and grossular garnet specimens. Tanzania is now included in the list of the world's great pyrite producers. Complete all-around and actually in fine condition considering its size and the rough nature of mining here. It shows some minor contacting with some bruising visible on a few edges or faces, but in context this is small and is only a minimal detraction to this exceptionaly large and rare pyrite from this locale. Contacting on the back, one side and base is mostly out-of-sight. Mass is 644 grams.
