Item Description

A wonderful example of the beautiful classic contemporary specimens from the Xiefang Mine. A few years ago these gorgeous association specimens started making their way to the western market, and they are for my money some of the most eye-catching pieces in terms of color. The combination of the sharp, rather lustrous, blocky, translucent, well-formed golden color Barite crystals sitting on a layer of gemmy blue-green Fluorite is something I can't remember seeing from any other locality. The piece looks beautiful when it's lit from the front along with good backlighting. Actually, it almost looks like a completely different specimen when it's backlit. I've seen pieces with golden Barites on white Quartz or pastel colored Fluorite, but when you have a piece like this with the top blue-green Fluorite matrix, it's the best association for color for the material. This piece has larger than normal sized Barites and the fact that they are gemmy, sharp and very lustrous makes them all the more attractive. The largest Barite measures about 7 mm though they may be larger depending on how you measures. A few contacts keep the piece from being 100% perfect, but overall it's in good shape. For two common species, we've never really seen this color combination before, and I think piece actually looks better than the photos might indicate. Showy and attractive in person, and certainly worth picking up while they're available on the market.
