Item Description

A classic old time specimen of the famous Pyrites from San Manuel featuring sharp, lustrous, well-formed, golden, metallic, cuboctahedral crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm on matrix. Not your typical cubic habit Pyrite from the locality but the lesser seen octahedrons with cubic modifications. Old time material that is from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. The piece comes mounted in a "Perky" box with a hand-written label from Wulff on the base that states it came from the well known collector, Frank Valenzuela.
